MISSION, VISION, HISTORY AND FACILITY
Our Mission
To enrich the lives of special needs children in our community to grow in independence and self confidence by providing rehabilitative and recreational riding and other equine opportunities.
Our Vision
To have a greatly expanded, year-round program serving many more special needs children.
Our History
Horse Play, Inc. started with a vision and a dream. Local community members who had experience working with a similar program in Nashville saw a need for starting a rehabilitative riding program in our area. After long hours of research and brainstorming, in 1997, the dream became a reality. Starting with 4 children and borrowed horses, the pilot program began. We now serve 50 plus children, own 2 horses and lease 6 others, and have over 70 community volunteers. Our facility today sits on 17 acres in Tullahoma, Tennessee, and includes a covered riding arena with an eight stall stable and a tack shed. We also have a sensory trail, five turnout pastures, bathroom facilities and an administration building. We are also well on our way to having a greatly expanded, year-round program serving many more children.
Future plans include an outdoor riding arena, upgrading our tack and grooming area to include a tack room and wash bay, expansion on our covered arena and a shady brick patio (currently under construction) for families to enjoy while their participants are in sessions.
